- Nemanjids
- Serbian royal dynasty founded by Stefan Nemanja (q.v.) ca. 1167 and lasting until 1371. It included such famous Serbian rulers as Stefan Urosh I, Stefan Urosh II Milutin, Stefan Urosh III Dechanski, and Stefan Urosh Dushan (qq.v.). Under the Namanjids medieval Serbia (q.v.) extended its borders for a while into central Greece (q.v.). An impressive number of churches were endowed by Nemanjid rulers, including Gracanica, Studenica, and the katholikon of Hilandar Monastery (qq.v.).
